Welcome to The Village Butcher in Hauraki. We are Rudi and Carmen van der Westhuizen, the husband and wife team behind the counter.
We took over the butchery in 2023 with a simple mission. We wanted to bring old-fashioned service and premium quality meat back to the local community. We have over 20 years of experience in the trade, and we are passionate about helping families eat better.
Whether you need a quick mid-week meal, a specific cut for a dinner party, or just some honest advice on how to cook a roast, we are here to help. We are proud to be a family-run business, and we love being part of the North Shore community.

1. Old School Craftsmanship We don’t just open boxes. We break down the beef ourselves and dry-age it on-site. This traditional process naturally tenderises the meat and concentrates the flavour, giving you a steak that is far superior to anything you will find in a supermarket.
2. Handmade Smallgoods We believe you should pay for meat, not water. That is why we cure our own bacon and ham, and link our own sausages right here in the store. We use natural wood smoke and quality spices, meaning our bacon crisps up perfectly without shrinking away in the pan.
3. Cut Exactly How You Like It Do you need a steak cut 4cm thick? Do you need a roast rolled and tied for a special dinner? Because we are real butchers, we can prepare your meat exactly to your specifications while you wait.
